What are the types of chemical peels?
At Synergy MedAesthetics in Beverly Hills, we provide a wide range of chemical peels across different strength categories, from superficial peels to deep peels. Generally speaking, stronger chemical peels produce better results, but they also involve more downtime. You should weigh the pros and cons of all your chemical peel options to select the right ones.
Superficial Peels
Superficial chemical peels are made of mild acids, such as alpha-hydroxy acid. They remove the uppermost layers of the skin and the oil and debris from clogged pores, helping you look instantly refreshed. They don’t involve any downtime.
Medium Peels
Medium chemical peels are made of glycolic acid and trichloroacetic acid. They exfoliate the uppermost and medium layers of the skin, so they can also soften the appearance of fine lines and acne scars. You may need two days of downtime after the peel.
Deep Peels
Deep chemical peels are made of trichloroacetic acid and phenol. These are extremely strong ingredients that penetrate the middle and deep layers of the skin to remove all the damaged and dead skin cells. They’re extremely effective, but they involve several days of downtime.
