As we grow older, we develop facial wrinkles and expression lines because of the constant use of certain facial muscles. Prominent facial wrinkles and fine lines can make you look older and upset, which, in turn, can negatively affect how you feel. Botox is one of the most effective tools to counter facial wrinkles and soften your facial appearance, making you look younger and more pleasant. The treatment is painless, quick, and efficient, and the results last for several months.

At Synergy MedAesthetics, we formulate unique Botox treatment solutions to address your goals. Depending on your goals and the depth of your wrinkles, we provide highly calibrated Botox doses to soften the wrinkles without freezing your expressions. We aim to provide natural-looking and safe results that will leave people guessing the secret to your ever-lasting youth and beauty. What causes facial wrinkles?

Dynamic wrinkles, such as forehead lines, frown lines, and laugh lines, appear when you produce certain facial expressions. They’re called “dynamic wrinkles” because they appear when you’re actively making an expression, such as frowning or laughing. However, as you grow older, the muscles underneath your facial skin become larger due to overuse, and the associated wrinkles stay on your face even at rest. As such, facial wrinkles appear because of the overuse of certain facial muscles to produce expressions.

Before & After

How does Botox work?

Botox is a neuromodulator, a type of injectable composed of botulinum toxin type A. When injected into the facial tissues, this neurotoxin protein blocks the transmission of signals from your nerve endings to the targeted facial muscles. Consequently, your facial muscles are relaxed, and the associated facial wrinkles are suppressed. You can also start using Botox at an early age to prevent the formation of dynamic wrinkles.

What does Botox treat?

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Bunny lines around the nose bridge
  • Smile lines around the mouth
  • Perioral lines around the lips
  • Cobblestone chin
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

What is Botox for hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a condition wherein you sweat excessively from your underarms, even without external stimuli, such as physical exertion and hot temperatures. Sweating is a natural response designed to regulate your body temperature. Your nerves activate your sweat glands when your body temperature is high, thus helping you stay cool. However, people suffering from hyperhidrosis have overactive sweat glands that remain active even without external stimuli.

Botox is an effective treatment for underarm hyperhidrosis. As mentioned earlier, Botox is made of a neurotoxin protein that blocks communications between nerve endings and targeted muscles. When injected in the underarm region, Botox can prevent your nerves from activating the underarm sweat glands, thus preventing excessive sweating. The results appear after a few days and last for several months.

What can I expect from the Botox procedure?

The Botox procedure is fairly simple and painless. The cosmetic provider will examine your facial skin and discuss your goals to curate the ideal treatment plan. After marking all the treatment areas on your face, the cosmetic provider will apply a numbing gel on your skin to ensure comfort. Finally, Botox will be injected into the targeted areas using ultrafine needles. Most patients experience no pain or discomfort.

The Botox treatment should conclude within 15 minutes, following which you can resume most of your daily activities and work. The treatment areas will look red, bruised, and swollen, but these side effects dissipate in a few days. You may also have to avoid strenuous physical activities for a day or two, and you shouldn’t massage the injected spots for a day.

When will I see the results?

Botox results may start appearing after 3 to 4 days, with continued improvements for 2 weeks. The final results last for 3 to 4 months, following which you need maintenance treatments.
