Everybody sheds hair. It is normal to lose anywhere from 50 to 100 hairs a day. If you notice bald spots or thinning, however, there is a good chance that you are suffering from pattern baldness. While this condition has traditionally been thought of as a concern only for males, the rates of female hair loss should not go unmentioned. The truth is that all people are at risk.

If you find yourself dealing with excessive hair shedding, you might not know where to turn. Fortunately, there are treatments available that can help you hold on to your tresses for years to come.

What is hair restoration?

Hair restoration can be defined as any process that works to return the scalp to its initial state. While hair loss isn’t exactly ‘curable,’ it is definitely possible to halt balding and reinvigorate hair follicles that have fallen dormant. In recent years, FDA-approved medications such as Finasteride and Minoxidil have grown in popularity. Finasteride works by hindering DHT production, while Minoxidil is typically applied topically to the problem areas, causing vasodilation.

While these treatments are effective, the results are known to be temporary. The other, costlier route is to get a hair transplant. While the results are permanent, they are expensive procedures that may not be within everyone’s budget. Thankfully, there are other alternatives available.

What is PRF hair restoration?

PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) is an all-natural serum that has multiple applications in the world of cosmetics. Most recently, it has been used as a treatment for hair loss. Blood contains red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. PRF is created when blood is drawn and concentrated to develop a platelet-rich formula. The high platelet count encourages collagen production, which then promotes new hair growth.

Additionally, white blood cells accelerate tissue regeneration, and fibrin helps extend the effect, creating longer-lasting results. Stem cells are also present, which help with the reparation process. Because the surgery is only minimally invasive, there is little downtime. Results usually appear within 4 to 6 months.

What is ACell hair restoration?

ACell is a regenerative medicine that promotes healing at the cellular level. It is an FDA-approved drug treatment that can be used to treat all forms of hair loss. When ACell is administered, hair follicles are rejuvenated, and new hair growth begins. The procedure is non-invasive and can help patients regain lost hair. Just like PRF, the treatment is quick, and there is minimal downtime.

Which treatment is right for me?

Both PRF and ACell are potent treatments that have proven to be highly effective in combating hair loss. PRF’s ability to boost collagen production and ACell’s ability to repair damaged cells make them both essential in the fight against baldness.

Some doctors opt to use both of the treatments together, as fighting hair loss on both fronts is preferable. Others may recommend using PRF by itself.

In either case, the best approach is to schedule a consultation and perform a thorough analysis of the hair loss prior to treatment. We will plan out a treatment that will address your specific goals, getting you to where you want to be.
